NO MUSIC NEARBY // THE RESIDENCY Join the founding 1,000
A residency for artists the platforms won't pay

They say it isn't
real music.

We've heard that one before. About synthesizers. About drum machines. About samplers, DAWs, and Auto-Tune. Every tool gets a funeral before it gets a throne.

THE FIRST 1,000 · A MOVEMENT, NOT A PLATFORM
The record, as it stands

In 2026 the platforms
put it in writing.

The same platforms that built their names on "supporting artists" spent this year drawing a line through part of the community.

TIDAL · announced June 29, 2026
"Starting today, AI-generated music will not be monetizable" ... nor will AI-generated uploads be "eligible for direct-to-fan sales."
TIDAL AI policy announcement ("We're For Real"), as quoted in press coverage by Music Ally, Music Business Worldwide, and TechCrunch, June 29-30, 2026. Fully AI-generated tracks are also labeled with an "AI" badge, and listeners can filter them out entirely.
BANDCAMP · announced January 13, 2026
"Music and audio that is generated wholly or in substantial part by AI is not permitted."
Bandcamp, "Keeping Bandcamp Human," official blog, January 13, 2026. Bandcamp also reserves the right to remove music "on suspicion" of being AI-generated. Press has since documented human artists removed on suspicion alone.

Read Exhibit A again. Your music is welcome on the platform. Your paycheck is not. If your song blows up, the platform streams it, benefits from it, and pays you $0.00. And the detectors deciding whose art counts have already deleted human artists over a rumor.

To be precise, because precision matters: TIDAL's policy demonetizes tracks it deems fully AI-generated and states that AI-assisted work with human input is unaffected. Bandcamp bans music made "wholly or in substantial part" with AI. The quotes above are from their public announcements as reported in June 2026 and January 2026. What we think it all means is our opinion, and we're comfortable saying it plainly: telling a working musician their output deserves zero compensation is telling them they are not an artist worth supporting.

The manifesto

I didn't ask permission
30 years ago either.

I've been a musician for nearly thirty years. Wrote, produced, and mastered the old way for most of them. Four years ago I picked up AI tools, and I got the speech: "you're not a real artist."

Cool story. Since October 12, 2025 I have released a new track nearly every single day. Generated in Suno. Mastered by my own hands, by my own ear, in post. Hundreds of finished tracks in a store I own end to end, on hardware I own, on a lane I built when I understood no platform was going to build it for me.

I'm proud to make music with AI tools. It changed my life. I listen to my own catalog pretty much exclusively, and I say that without a hint of shame, because that was the whole point: make the music you want to exist.

The platforms can badge, filter, and defund whatever they like. It's their store. But it doesn't have to be your store. The answer to a gate has never been begging the gatekeeper. It's building where there isn't one.

The Residency is that place. It's everything I built for myself, handed to you as clay. Mold it into your lane.

FOUNDER, NO MUSIC NEARBY
The transformation

Where you are.
Where you'll be.

Renting your career

  • Streaming pennies, if the algorithm feels generous
  • Badged, filtered, demonetized, or deleted on suspicion
  • Posting content until you burn out, because the machine demands feeding
  • An audience that lives on someone else's platform, under someone else's rules
  • Explaining to gatekeepers why your art counts

A Resident of No Music Nearby

  • Your own store at yourname.nomusicnearby.com. Fans buy direct. You set prices. You keep the rights you walked in with.
  • A content engine that posts for you. Every track becomes an audio-reactive visualizer, captioned and posted daily. The machine does the showing up.
  • No detectors. No badges. No suspicion. Your art is art here, period.
  • A collective of artists who already settled the "is it real" debate and got back to work.
  • Leave anytime, with everything. Nothing signed away. Not a label. A lane.
What's in the clay

One residency.
The whole lane.

01

Your Store

A direct-to-fan store on your own subdomain. Flex pricing from singles to full-catalog packs, 30-second smart previews, Stripe checkout, and we take 0% of your sales. Bandcamp takes 15%. EVEN takes 20%. Your revenue is yours.

02

The Content Engine

The part that saves your life: every track gets an audio-reactive visualizer (3,000+ styles), an on-voice caption, and automatic daily posting to IG, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

03

BYOLLM

Bring your own brain. Captions and copy run on the model YOU choose: every frontier provider, or a local open-source model on your own machine. Your key, your voice, your cost at cost. We never sell inference or mark up your tokens.

04

The Collective

Residents shape what gets built next. Founding voices carry founding weight. This grows like a collective, not a corporation.

05

No Detectors

Fully AI, AI-assisted, traditional, hybrid: if it's your art, it's welcome. We will never run a detector against your music. Impersonating other artists is the one door that stays closed.

06

No Tools Nearby

The resident toolbox: format conversion at mastering-grade settings, smart preview cutting, tagging + artwork embedding, loudness checks, cover resizing for every platform, and more. No more sketchy converter sites and five extra subscriptions. You're already here. Have the tools.

07

The Exit Door

Built in from day one, on purpose. Export your catalog, your fans' emails, everything, anytime. A home you're free to leave is the only home worth trusting.

The founding offer

The first 1,000
own the story.

Founding Resident
Capped at 1,000 founding residents
onboarded in waves · numbered for good
$100 ONCE
Your founding stake.
Resident #X of 1,000, on record.
$9.99 / MO
Founding rate, locked for as long as you stay.
Planned public rate after the founding cap: $19.99+
  • Founding badge + number on your store and profile, permanent
  • First 3 months of residency included in your founding stake
  • Rate never rises while you remain a resident, in writing at purchase
  • A founding voice: residents' input steers the build order
  • Fair-use creation caps (daily cooks + posts) published before any payment, enforced honestly
  • 0% of your sales, always. We make our money on the tools, never off your back. Every dollar a fan pays you is yours (minus card processing).
  • The private residents' community + a direct line to the founder. Feedback, requests, issues: you talk to the artist who builds this, not a help desk.

Straight talk: these are the planned founding terms, published before we take a cent. Joining the waitlist below costs nothing and buys nothing; it holds your place in line. When your wave opens, the terms you see at purchase are the terms that get honored, written down, including what happens to founding promises if this platform is ever acquired (they survive, or you're made whole).

Why only 1,000?

Because this isn't a land grab.
It's a first cohort.

The founding 1,000 aren't customers. They're collaborators. We cap it so we can actually learn from you: what works, what doesn't, what's missing, what's magic. Then we build the best platform, the best tools, and the best options for artists to thrive, together.

Built by artists who eat their own dog food. And we're no strangers to eating dog food in general. IYKYK.

Being an artist isn't what the famous ones make it look like. Most of us struggle. We're proud to get down in the dirt for it, because we believe in our art and we just want the world to hear it. Most companies could not give less of a fuck about that. This one is built out of it.

And when you need something? No support tickets. No customer-service maze. Residents get a private community and a direct line to the founder. You'll never email a help desk; you'll hit up a fellow artist who happens to build the platform, and we'll make it better together.

The waitlist

Take a number.
Build a lane.

Waves open in order. Earliest on the list, earliest in the door.

No spam, no reselling your email, no daily drip campaigns. You'll hear from us when your wave opens and when something real happens. That's it.

Straight answers

Asked and answered.

Do you take any rights to my music?
No. None. Ever. You arrive with your rights and you keep them. The Residency is infrastructure, not a label deal. We never own, license, or control your masters, your publishing, or your name. You can export your entire catalog and fan list and leave any day you want.
Is this a label?
It's what a label was supposed to feel like: somebody in your corner with machinery you don't have to build. Minus the part where they own you. Think collective with infrastructure: your store, your content engine, your lane, our machinery, zero papers signed over.
What does BYOLLM mean?
Bring Your Own LLM. The captions and copy your content engine writes run on the AI model of your choice. Every frontier provider is welcome, and so are local open-source models running on your own hardware. Your voice, your model, your cost at cost. We don't resell inference, so we're never incentivized to burn your tokens, and we'll help you get your model of choice plugged in from day one.
I'm a traditional musician. Am I welcome?
Completely. The founder is a trad musician of almost 30 years. The Residency isn't "an AI platform," it's an artist platform that refuses to run purity tests. Fully AI, AI-assisted, hybrid, or 100% analog tape: if it's your art, it has a home here. The only hard line is impersonating other artists.
What exactly do I get for $100 + $9.99/month?
The founding stake ($100, once) buys your permanent founding badge and number, your first 3 months, your locked $9.99 rate, and a founding voice in the build order. The monthly covers your store (hosting, checkout, delivery) and your content engine (daily visualizer cooks + auto-posting) within published fair-use caps. Full terms in writing before any payment.
When do waves open?
Small waves, in waitlist order, starting with a hand-onboarded founding crew. We'd rather onboard 25 artists perfectly than 1,000 artists badly. Every founding resident gets the machinery working before the next wave opens. Waitlist is free and holds your spot either way.
Why cap it at 1,000? Is that fake scarcity?
The opposite: it's honest capacity + honest intent. The founding cohort is capped so we can genuinely learn from it and build the platform WITH the first residents, not at them. Small waves, real onboarding, real feedback loops, machinery proven at each step before the next wave opens. The counters on this site are real numbers or they don't show at all.
What happens when I need help?
You will never email customer service. Residents get a private community and a direct line to the founder, a fellow artist who happens to build the platform. Feedback, feature requests, bug reports, or just talking shop: hit me up and we make it better together. That's the whole point of a collective.
Why should I trust this over the platforms?
Don't trust. Verify. The founder's own store, radio, and daily posts run on this exact machinery in public, every day. And the exit door is a feature: everything exportable, anytime. A platform that hands you the keys and the door has different incentives than one that owns your audience.
